For the amount of time and personal sacrifice Parry has devoted to making sure that everyone, especially children, can learn to use the Internet safely, privately and responsibly, Parry is often called the "Angel of the Internet." She has worked since 1997 to help develop educational materials for parents and since 1998 has devoted a substantial portion of her time (unpaid) to promote online safety worldwide. She runs the world's largest online safety and help group, WiredSafety.org. Empowered by the efforts of thousands of unpaid volunteers, Parry's non-profit organization, WiredSafety.org, helps people who need help online, educates them about safe surfing and provides awareness programs worldwide. Her books for parents are the leaders in their space and her offline programs for schools and community groups are in constant demand. Most other groups have tried to replicate these programs, but none can replicate Parry's broad knowledge of Internet law, policy and the children's industry. While some programs limit themselves to sexual predators and content online, Parry's programs also include piracy, privacy and empowering the children and teens themselves through innovative programs, such as teenangels.org. To learn more about Parry and the work of her extraordinary volunteers, visit WiredSafety.org. WiredKids.org contains their kids online safety materials and Cyberlawenforcement.org is designed to assist law enforcement volunteers. |
