Parry Aftab's Advisory Positions
Parry Aftab is recruited frequently for advisory boards. She now is forced to limit her advisory commitments, because of her other obligations and work demands, and turns down more advisory offers than many others receive.
She currently sits on MTV's advisory board, Facebook's Safety Advisory Board, the US National Telecommunications Information Agency's appointed Online Safety Technology Working Group ("OSTWG") comprised to advise Congress, the National Crime Prevention Council's advisory board and XBox's advisory board. She also chairs the StopCyberbullying Coalition.
Parry is an advisor to Taser International on its new Protector products for cell phone safety and distracted driving solutions. She has previously served as Chair of McAfee's Consumer Advisory Board, Sesame Street Online's Advisory Board, Harvard Berkman Center's Internet Safety Technical Task Force (the "ISTTF"), the Ad Council's Advisory Board, as a member of the board of directors of Truste, president of UNESCO's US national committee for its Internet child protection program, a member of the Boy Scouts of America's National Outreach Committee, and a member of the UK Home Office Task Force on Cybercrime.
The Girl Scouts of the USA appointed her to design, write and advise on its Internet safety and digital literacy initiative, lmk.girlscouts.org. And, since 1998, Disney has turned to her to advise on cybersafety and privacy.
Through WiredTrust, Parry Aftab advises most of the industry leaders in best practices and product design.
