Parry Aftab's Speaking Services Page Parry's speaking engagements fall into three major categories: Privacy,
Security and Risk Management for Business; Cybercrime Prevention, Awareness and
Investigation; and Internet Safety, Privacy and Responsible Surfing. In addition
to her normal speaking services, Parry is able to engage Marvel superhero live
character appearances through WiredSafety.org and InternetSuperHeroes.org. These
live character appearances range from the solo character, with photo
opportunities and autograph signings, to larger interactive skits about Internet
safety, privacy, anti-piracy and responsible surfing issues, as well as
cybercrime and cyberabuse prevention and awareness. The fees for the Marvel
character live appearances are paid to WiredSafety.org, the non-profit Parry
runs. She is a sought after speaker, worldwide, and speaks to governmental and law enforcement groups, trade conferences, international conferences and community and family groups, such as seniors, schools, parent-teacher organizations and youth groups. The Privacy Lawyer Workshops: Her Privacy Lawyer coaching workshops (see Privacy Coaching for more information) are based on Parry's "The Privacy Lawyer" columns for Information Week magazine. They deliver privacy awareness for small and medium-sized groups within a corporation or business unit. These can be customized for the particular problem, need or situation faced by the corporation or business unit. The fees for a entire-day workshop begin at $12,500, plus travel. They can be videotaped for later review and awareness of others within the organization. Longer workshops, designed for corporate retreats are available as well. Presentations for Spouses and Families of Conference Attendees: Recently, many large conference groups have requested Parry as a major or keynote speaker to the main conference and have asked her to make Internet safety presentations to the spouses and children of the conference participants. These have been very well received. When coupled with a speaking engagement at the plenary, the rates for this additional program is reduced. The Level of Parry's Speaking Engagements: She is generally engaged for keynote, sub-keynote and plenary panel moderator and formation presentations. (Because she is deeply involved in policymaking, she is able to attract high-profile panel participants and form newsworthy panel discussions.) Her presentations are all customized for the occasion and she works personally with the conference organizers or sponsors to define the theme and method of presentation. She is also willing to help prepare content for the websites associated with the event and be available for media and promotional events at no additional charge. (To learn more about Parry and media, please click here.) Commercial Speaking Engagement Fees: Parry's speaking rates differ, depending on the nature of the speaking engagement and the audience. Her commercial speaking rates start at $8,500 (plus travel expenses) and can be as high as $17,500, depending on the location of the engagement, and what is being requested. On a very selective basis, she is willing to waive her normal speaking fees for professional development conferences. Applications for a fee waiver should be made directly to Parry Aftab, explaining the nature of the engagement, whether other speakers are being paid, whether expenses are being reimbursed and if admission fees are being charged. Please use the fee waiver form when making this request. Public Service Speaking Fees: Parry also helps develop programs for adults on online safety and cybercrime and abuse prevention. These include programs for women's groups on cyberstalking and harassment and cyberdating. These also include presentations to senior and retired persons groups on avoiding scams, fraud and learning how to enjoy the Internet safely. (Her programs for widows and widowers are very well received. They are often the victims of special frauds targeting their grief and loneliness.) Her fees are substantially reduced from her normal commercial speaking fees. Since the fee is dependent on the group and their needs and her availability, groups are requested to contact Parry directly to inquire about program options and fees. School Program Fees: Her programs for schools are delivered on a substantially reduced fee basis. These speaking presentations and programs range from assemblies for students (of all ages, adjusted for age-appropriateness and special interests), programs for teachers on risk management and Internet use in schools, programs for schools administrators (with or without teachers, librarians and library-media specialists) and programs for parents. Some school systems have elected to put together family events, including parents and children in joint and break-out sessions with computer hands-on access. Full-day programs for student workshops or parent training are available as well. Parry's fees for assemblies (broken into three or fewer groups and run sequentially (within reason), teachers and school administrators or parents start at $5,000. (Many schools are able to get a grant or assistance from technology providers to defray the cost of this program.) Parry donates the fees from any school or community group programs to cover the costs of delivering online safety programs and the non-profit, WiredSafety.org. In order to encourage school systems and community groups to develop a broad program, Parry reduces the cost of additional presentations and programs delivered on the same day. For each additional program, the incremental costs are reduced. The second program added to the basic is an additional $1500 (except for parents presentations, which are an additional $2,500. ) The third program is an additional $1,000 (this also applies to parents presentations.) For example, if Parry is retained to make three assembly presentations to students on one afternoon, the fee is $5,000. If the teachers program is added, the additional fee is $1,500, rather than an additional $5,000. If a parents program is added for that morning, or evening, in addition to the teachers' program, the additional fee is $1,000. (You may note that if the school engages Parry to do student and parents presentations, the school gets the teacher, school administration, librarian program without charge. Parry has set these fees to encourage teachers, administration and librarian programs.) If Parry is retained for the students, teachers and for the parents, she is also willing (at no additional fee) to provide a survey that can be administered to the students in advance of the presentations, and a review of the issues identified from that survey. She is also willing to review the school's acceptable use policy and provide suggestions on how it can be improved without charge. School Scholarships: Given the importance of delivering online safety and responsible surfing programs to schools, and the difficulty in some schools obtaining the requisite funding to engage Parry, she offers six scholarships for school systems each calendar year. The school system would still be responsible for her travel expenses, but would be eligible for the entire day program without charge. |
